08/29/2011 - Finally it took them around 12 hours to finish off laying the bricks and finishing the walkway too. Here are the pics of finished (still some work needs to be done). Long day for the workers but even they were happy that it is done now.

Patio project - Day 3

Not much work could be accomplioshed because of the Hurricane Irene (rain came in). I was happy at least that laying out of the bricks started. (08/27/2011).

Patio project - Day 2

Second day work was stopped (on 08/20/2011) because of rain in the afternoon. Major part done was railing on 3 sides for the patio and the walk way. Got two loads of sand and realized that they need two more.

Patio Project - Day-1

Here are some pics of the place where we are planning to build a patio before the work started.

Here is today's progress so far: (08/20/2011)
Cleaned up the existing patio. Removed the existing patio bricks. Cleared area by removing weeds and other plants and set the ground for where the patio needs to be laid out. Contractors got the big wood for building the edging of the patio.

Tomorrow they are going to buy the bricks and finish up the patio hopefully. Will update the news with more photos. I hope to get it done soon ..... lets see how it goes.

2011 plant work in backyard and New home project

This year I did not plant many as we already knew that we were having an India trip in middle of the summer. So  only plants I could plant were Tomatos and couple of cucumber (out of which only one is growing nicely now). I have a couple of gongura (sour greens) and green chillies (store bought plants) near my rose bush. Apart from that, I have a couple of new additions to the home plants this year as I lost my jasmine plant :(. So I will be adding the photos of all to this post. Also we were planning to make a new patio to our backyard for the big event coming up. So I will update the posts on that. That is our new project this year (ofcourse it is done by contractors but photos definitely help on what to do and how to do).

Following are some pics from this year plants and other plants which I got to add it to my flower garden in my backyard.

Red Hibiscus - (Erra mandaram ) - (Perennial) waiting to be added to my backyard
Jasmine (malle) - This is a annual plant so I take it inside when it is going to be cold. The tubelight or flouroscent light in the winter will act as sunlight to this plant and this plant survives winter inside home warmly.
Tulsi (Indian basil) - I got these from my aunt. I hope they stay at my home at least this time. These needed to be taken care just as the annual plants. Taking care of them will be just the same as jasmine plant for me.
Majenta Hibiscus (Majenta color mandaram) - This is a perennial again. So I will be planting it in my backyard soon. I will be waiting for spring for it to bloom again :).
 Gongura plants this year (2011)
 Green chillies 2011
 Cucumber 2011
 Tomatos 2011
Till then see you again with new post.
